#CreatingAllTheThings

When I’m not chasing my daughters, Tiffany and Thalia, I’m usually creating all the things in my candle studio. I am a mom, I am a girl boss, and I stumbled into the exciting world of candle making by accident.

When my first daughter was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, I turned to natural remedies to help her after she had a severe skin breakout due to a number of surgeries. I was born and raised on the beautiful island of  Jamaica with my grandparents and great-grandparents where it was the norm to use herbs and oils for medicinal purposes. So when I got undesirable results from prescribed medications, I turned to my roots for a remedy. My blends of essential oils, herbs, and natural butters were what finally got my daughter some relief. My passion and knowledge grew and I later decided to channel them into developing my unique brand... so, Natural Annie Essentials burst into life!

I got really hooked on creating products and carried a line of bath and body and skincare products that sold in over 60 stores across the US and Canada. I started making my products in my kitchen. Then expanded to my basement and eventually had to turn my garage into the production studio to keep up with the demands. All of my products were handmade in small batches to ensure freshness, purity, and effectiveness. They were specially blended with pure essential oils, natural butters, infused herbal oils, and contain absolutely no nasty chemicals. I later realized that while I absolutely loved making my small batch skincare and bath and body products, I enjoyed making it for my family more so than for distribution.

In 2016, I introduced soy candles to my product line after a number of customers continued to ask if I carried candles at a pop-up shop in Brooklyn. While I wasn’t immediately pumped to add more work to my already hectic work life, I gave in and gave candles a try. Once I introduced them to my audience, they were immediately a hit! My mind was blown and I’ve been hand-pouring candles ever since.
